     Helen Hamilton, 74, of Peoria, passed away at 2:56 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2012, at her residence.
     Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 2012, at Grace Baptist Church in Peoria, with Pastor Jeffrey Ivory officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
     Helen was born in Clarksdale, MS on January 26, 1937, a daughter of Jim and Willie Mae (Grant) Robinson. They preceded her in death, along with her stepmother, Macie Robinson; and two brothers, Louis Grant and James W. “Sonny” Robinson.
     She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Hamilton of Peoria; grandson, Cedric Hamilton of Peoria; stepsons, Kennard (Carla) Hopson of Peoria, Rick Mitchell of Springfield and David (Elissa) Miles of New York, NY; stepdaughter, Missy Morgan of Orlando, FL; sisters, Tonisia Smith and Cecelia Grant of Chicago; brothers, Tommy Jackson and Roosevelt (Montest) Monquie of Chicago; goddaughters, Unity King and Cassaundra Powell of Peoria; special friend, Mattie McKnight of Peoria; seven great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
     Helen worked in the medical field and restaurants for many years in Jacksonville and was a beautician in Chicago.
     She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and sang with Chain of Grace for many years. She enjoyed cooking and baking apple and blueberry pies. She loved raising the children in the community.
     Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria.
